This art deco brooch decorated with a Mother of Pearl, has been entirely handmade and it is a unique piece.
This brooch of about 8 cm by 3 cm has been made in pure silver (950/1000 with state hallmark). The total weight of the jewel is 14 gr (without the fine stone). The clasp of the brooch is a ball joint in silver, the needle is in steel.
This designer jewel has been forged by hand by the workshop of Galadrielle, artisan of art jeweler. To shape this original creation, the jeweler first made sketches and drawings before assembling plates and silver threads that were cut and then welded together. To make the jewel precious and shiny, it was entirely polished by hand.
The brooch is surmounted by a fine stone, a rectangle of 2.5 cm by 2 cm.
The mother-of-pearl comes from the inside of some mollusc shells. The mother-of-pearl is secreted by the molluscs to defend themselves from an irritating foreign element. The nacre has a hardness of 2.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale. It has been used for a very long time for decoration, marquetry, jewelry and buttons. Mother-of-pearl is a member of the gemstone family.
Due to the difference in light and screen settings, the color of the stone may be slightly different from the images.
Creation of art made in South Burgundy (France) Galadrielle's workshop.
